Join us for Sensory Saturdays, the last Saturday of each month, for a special program that offers a sensory-friendly environment where families with sensory sensitivities can explore STEM concepts through free play in a quiet, private space. With exclusive access to the museum, families can enjoy a stress-free experience, moving at their own pace and engaging with hands-on activities in a quiet setting. Each month, a special sensory-friendly activity will be thoughtfully designed to provide a calm, engaging, and hands-on STEM experience for families. These activities will focus on gentle exploration, using tactile materials and interactive elements that encourage curiosity without overwhelming the senses. Whether it's experimenting with textures, exploring light and color, or discovering simple scientific principles, the activity will be tailored to ensure that every participant, regardless of sensory needs, can engage at their own pace in a supportive, low-stress environment.

Founded in 2005, the Long Island Explorium is committed to the development of programs and exhibits deeply rooted in research and evidence-based practice. Our programs are aligned with NYSSLS, ELA, Math, and Social Studies Standards.
