Long Island Explorium's Virtual Little Sparks Program 

Welcome to our online version of our program for 3 – 4 year olds called Little Sparks presented to you by the Long Island Explorium.

Through our programs, we hope to inspire the next generation of problem solvers and creative thinkers! Join Miss Erika for the next 3 weeks and take part in activities that will get us all prepared to celebrate our wonderful Earth on Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22.

Our Lessons aligned with the NYSSL, ELA and Math standards.

Week 3: Sow and Grow

Today's workshop is called "Sow and Grow". In this video, we will learn about what makes a seed sprout. Then, we will make our own unique seed sprouting setups! You'll need some beans, rice, peas, nuts, lentils, or fruit seeds. You'll also need a glass jar or a ziploc bag, some water, and some paper towels. We will meet back later on in the day to check out what we've made, and see what our friends have made too. Now we will read our book to start, and learn a song to go along with it.

Supplies needed:
-Seeds from last week
-Bowl of water
-Paper Towel
-Zip lock bag

Week 1:  Signs of Spring

Today's activity is called "Signs of Spring" - we will learn about what signs to look for outdoors that tell us Spring is here, we will build a Nature Log Book!

Supplies needed for the Log book:
- Paper (and some cardboard if you have it)
- Markers (or crayons/pencils)
- Scissors
- Hole puncher (or you can use the scissors above)
- Yarn (or string)

Week 2: Seeds are Sleeping

Today's activity is called "Seeds are Sleeping" - we will learn about what seeds and go on a seed hunt in our pantry! No specific supplies are needed during this activity except a pantry to look inside.
