Get ready for an astronomical adventure as we dive into the cosmic phenomenon of the solar eclipse! Calling all young explorers and budding astronomers—this program is your ticket to unlocking the secrets of this upcoming celestial spectacle.

In this exciting exploration, kids will embark on a journey to discover the science behind solar eclipses and unravel the mysteries of why they occur. Through engaging activities, interactive lessons, and hands-on experiments, our young astronomers will learn about the alignment of the sun, moon, and Earth that creates this awe-inspiring event.

This program is designed for our young stargazers to help prepare for the big event - the April 8th Solar Eclipse! They’ll be ready and equipped with solar viewing glasses and excitement in their hearts as they witness this rare celestial dance, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

  • Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Ages: 7 years old/ 2nd Grade to 6th Grade

  • Cost: $40 per child (Limited to 20 kids)
  • Snack: Please pack a snack for your child.

Our April 8th Solar Eclipse event is sold out, but there’s still room in our School Holiday Discovery Day on April 1st! This event is designed for students to learn about the upcoming solar eclipse and secure their very own eclipse-safe viewing glasses! Prepare for this upcoming celestial event and have fun while on school break.

Malmi Kiriwandalage

SOLAR SYSTEM AMBASSADOR
She is an astronomer, space science educator, and aspiring Astrobiologist from Sri Lanka. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Astronomy & Planetary Sciences from Stony Brook State University of New York and is an Advanced Space Academy graduate at the Space Camp, U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Currently, she is in the process of enrolling in graduate school to obtain her PhD in Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences.

Founded in 2005, the Long Island Explorium is committed to the development of programs and exhibits deeply rooted in research and evidence-based practice. Our programs are aligned with NYSSLS, ELA, Math and Social Studies Standards.

These events are organized by the Long Island Explorium, and provided free of charge in our support of children and STEM enrichment.
