Expanding your child's world through a interactive, "stellar" camp.

Join us in the Long Island Explorium's Winter Break for a JOURNEY INTO SPACE!
A week-long hands-on, interactive learning experience, where we bring the wonders of Space right into your living room. Our camps are always a highly personalized STEM learning experience for your children. Our educators are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and skilled at engaging your child directly.

Our small and friendly online camp week will include a solid balance of interaction, live engagement, and creative challenges. We keep our group sizes small so that every child's contribution is valued, and we always feel by the end of the week that we have developed a real bond with our campers! A camp where your child will be challenged to discover, design, and explore various STEAM projects, while also getting a structured day with quality interaction with other campers. All activities are aligned with NYSLS, ELA, and Math standards.

Each camper will receive a kit of science tools and activity-specific materials that they will need to participate in the camp included in the camp's price. These will be available for curbside pickup from the museum during the weekend before camp or can be shipped to your homes for an additional cost. Please select and purchase the shipping option on your registration page if you require it.

The camp is designed for children entering grades K-6.

Journey Into Space

In our "out of this world' camp, we will be traveling through our Solar System. Exploring neighboring planets and our local star, examining nebulae, and seeing if we can track down any signs of extraterrestrial life! Become astronauts and rocket scientists as we experiment with how to produce thrust and how to increase and decrease drag in our engineering and design explorations. We will tackle some of the same experiments that scientists on the International Space Station are working on right now. As well as all of that, we will welcome extraordinary guests who are experts in the field of astronomy!

"Our daughter, age 7, participated in a recent STEM exercise via group ZOOM call. We really like how the teacher, challenged the children to think about the problem and alternative solutions. Amazingly well done, start to finish. If you are looking to add to your child's experience in science, this is it."

"My child is enjoying the program very much. For her it is something interesting to look forward aside her school work, in which she is losing interest now."

"So you definitely did something right in instilling a confidence and a desire for inquiry in them that I haven’t seen before. The experience definitely exposed them to something more than they would have had in their district and yes I teach science but what you did surpassed the standards. There is a silver lining in this storm of remote learning."
